The Campaign Blue Flag is a recognized symbol that requires the fulfillment of demanding hygienic-environmental levels, the existence of suitable toilets without spills, as well as life guard service, rescue, first aid in the beach or the port with Blue Flag.

The award Blue Flag is based on the fulfillment of a series of specific criteria in awarded beaches and ports, that are grouped around four basic pillars: a) quality of waters, b) information and environmental education, c) environmental management, and d) security and services.

The Blue Flag is granted annually, with the purpose of assuring the continued fulfillment on its criteria.

Alberto Martí, from Scuba Dogs, is also the President of the National Jury of Blue Flag. This Jury is combined by a select group of organizations like the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, the Meeting of Environmental Quality, Puerto Rico Police Department, the Department of Education and others. Its function is to evaluate these beaches annually to verify that they are fulfilling the standards of Blue Flag. Also, the Jury is responsible to continue supervising of the Blue Flag beaches to make sure that they continue fulfilling the quality exigencies of the program. Thus, they will be able to receive and to conserve its award.

In addition, we organized Beach Days with other organizations to enjoy Blue Flag beaches and to educate on the importance of the program. Like these next pictures from the "Sun Tan with Blue Flag" activity made in Flamenco beach in Culebra. Several environmental organizations participated and we offered games, prizes, refreshments and free lunch for everybody.
